Tutorials

The following videos and text explanations are provided to help you find your away around the website.

1. Basics of making an account and using the homepage

2. Navigating Within a Course

Once inside the course, there are two key ways to navigate. The first is the "Jump Menu" in the upper right corner, which lets you move forward or backward within a course or jump to a particular section.

The other, known as the "Breadcrumb Trail", is in the upper left corner. It lets you go back to either the home page, course page, or a list of one kind of module (e.g. all the forums, all the assignments, etc.). This can be helpful in figuring out where you are and how you got there.

The breadcrumb trail also works more widely throughout the site, so you will be able to navigate if you are, say, updating your profile page or blog.

3. Showing/Hiding Topics

You can reduce the amount of scrolling that you have to do within a course by showing only one topic at a time. Click the icon in the top right corner of that topic to hide all others. Click the same icon again to reveal all topics.

4. Making a Profile

You can make and edit your profile to include a description of yourself, contact information, a picture, and lists of interests. You can also take notes, track your forum posts and write a blog.
